Ants

Our topic of the month is Ants.

There are many different types of ants in Michigan, but the two most common are Payment Ants (Small brown ants) and Carpenter ants(Larger and black).

Pavement Ants live in the ground and when found inside can be annoying and are usually attracted to a food source. (ie; food crumbs, spilled beverages or pet foods)

Carpenter Ant colonies reside in wood, either inside or outside. When found inside this could mean that you have an infestation in your home. Carpenter Ants are a wood destroying insect. Carpenter ants do not eat the wood like termites, they tunnel through the wood to enlarge there colony making the wood structure weak.
